One of My Favorite Books Ever!!!

The Locket by Richard Paul Evans

From the Publisher...

After the death of his mother, Michael Keddington finds employment at the Arcadia nursing home where he befriends Esther, a reclusive but beautiful elderly woman who lives in mourning for her youth and lost love.

Michael faces his own challenges when he loses his greatest love, Faye. When Michael is falsely accused of abusing one of the Arcadia's residents, he learns important lessons about faith and forgiveness from Ester -- and her gift to him of a locket, once symbolic of one person's missed opportuninites, becomes another's second chance.

From Me...

I'm kind of mad at myself for not posting a review about this book sooner.  I loved this book so much that I have read all of the books written by Richard Paul Evans.  He has a new book coming out, A Winter Dream, and when I found out about it, I realized that I have never reviewed any of his books.  And away we go...

This book is just amazing.  Entirely heartfelt without being melodramatic.  The romance in this book is realistic rather than fantastical. Each character feels and experiences pain and frustration that I could relate to in a tangible way.

The writing is simply wonderful.  The quotes are inspirational and fitting for each chapter.  In fact, some of the fun in reading his books is reading the quote at the beginning of the chapter and trying to figure out where it fits into the story.  I promise that you will not be disappointed with his style or storytelling ability.

Honestly, this story is one that hangs with me.   I remember it as I read other books.  I can't pinpoint exactly why it touched me the way it did, but this book is my modern favorite.  The only book I loved more was Pride & Prejudice, and really, that's not fair competition.  Pick this book up the next time you are looking for a new book, that easy to read, and truly enjoyable. You won't be disappointed. The books themselves are beautiful.

  1. I've never heard of this book before, but it sounds great! I've just recently read a book about a more realistic love, and it made me realize how made up most of the romances in the fictions we read today are. I'll have to look into this one!

    Happy reading!
