Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook. In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both? Ancient history is only the beginning.

Distraught at the loss of her friend, Claudia's dreams become tumultuous, and through them she mysteriously travels to another world called Crossroads. Unknown to her, Crossroads is like a second heaven, a place between heaven and earth, where the souls of humans in comas or near death experiences may wander. There, she unexpectedly meets Michael, a nephilim--half angel, half human. It turns out that this isn't her first visit, which is an enigma, for she has no recollection of being there, and is told that no human has crossed over...until Claudia. Now that she's been there, fallen and demons are after her, suspecting she must be special, and it is up to Michael and the other nephilim to protect her. Her dream becomes a nightmare as more secrets are revealed about who she really is, and the true identities of the people she loves most. The situation becomes even more complicated when she is unable to hinder her feelings for her swoon-worthy guardian angel. Can Michael fight his growing feelings for Claudia and protect her as a guardian angel should, or will he be too blinded by human emotions and the struggles of being who he is?

Book Suggestion & Giveaway: Unstoppable by S.R. Johannes

Unstoppable by S.R. Johannes After everything that has happened, Grace goes to the Everglades to live with her grandmother, Birdee. Even though she is now home-schooled by her bird-obsessed grandmother, the move gives Grace time to relax. She learns to scuba dive and starts boating with old man Rex, Birdee's casual friend/boyfriend. One day while out in the marshes of the Everglades, Grace rescues an abused Florida panther, currently on the endangered list. The more she dives into the animal’s horrific condition, the more she ventures into the underground world of the roadside zoos that run rampant in Florida with a total disregard for the law. Eventually, she stumbles upon one large roadside zoo filled with a variety of endangered and illegal animals. Before she can gather evidence and report her findings to the authorities, she is kidnapped by the ruthless owner and dragged deep into the Everglades for a hunting challenge. Only this time, Grace is the prey. During a sick game of cat and mouse, Grace is offered one chance at survival. With a one-hour head start and very little supplies, time and skill are now all that stands between the hunter and the hunted.

Popular Books that You Don't Like Guest Post

I recently asked the authors of A Light in Dark Places, Jennifer Graves and Emily Clawson, what popular books or authors they didn't like.  I hope you enjoy their answers and get a chance to enter the giveaway below.

Emily’s response:

light in dark tour
Tour Schedule
I might be the only person in America to say this but I didn’t like the Divergent series. I tried. I really tried. I read book 1 and half of book 2 and finally said, “I don’t like this. Why am I still plugging ahead?” I guess it goes back to my dislike of Stienbeck and all things that are dark without redemption. There has to be hope for something to pull me in. Everything doesn’t have to be rosy all the time, but there has to be hope.

That’s one of the reasons that Jennifer Graves’ story appeals to me so much. Sure, she’s been through unspeakable tragedy, but there were good things that were learned. There were positives in the love that others shared and in the impact and courage that Jennifer has shown. That’s a story that has hope.

Jennifer’s response:

JenandEmAuthorphoto1One book series I didn’t like much was Hunger Games. This is a creative twist on a dystopia with the plot apparently patterned after Battle Royale- a series which I have not read. It was a particularly gory theme- the book is actually worse than the movie that has come out. There were major plot hang-ups though. Katniss, while starting out very self-sacrificing, becomes more and more self-centered through the series. The love triangle is frustrating between her, Peeta (the boy from her district who fought in the Hunger games with her), and Gale (her first crush). She didn’t  stay loyal to Gale which frustrated me at first. But then I got used to the idea of her with Peeta. Except that she couldn’t be faithful to him later. Her selfishness got to me and I simply didn’t like the direction that the series took.

Guest Post and New Book

Thanks so much to Jennifer Burrows for visiting today.  I hope everyone enjoys the post and takes some time to check out her new book, A Shot in the Dark.

Inspiration To Your Writing

I can’t pinpoint one thing that inspires me to write.  So many factors play into it.  I typically get an idea that pops in my head.  For example, I was sitting on a train traveling through the Italian countryside when an idea hit me.  From there, I began to develop a story in my head and then I put it to paper in an outline form.  I get so excited I want to get the entire story down on paper.  I have to refrain myself so I can stay focused on the current project and then pick up the new idea at a later date.  By the way, the Italian countryside story will be the next book I write.

Many times, my writing has to do with what social or emotional things are going on in my life at the time.  With my next book, Into the Light, I was dealing with some family issues.  So, there are family issues Laney has to deal with throughout her story.  And while these aren’t the same family issues I was having, it was a good outlet in which to release some bottled up energy.  I guess you could say I project my issues onto my characters.
Another inspiration is the love for my characters.  When I fall in love with them, I want to write about them and not stop until their story is finished.  I get in a mode where I can feel their emotions.  I get totally wrapped up in them and their lives. It sometimes feels as though I’m a part of the story.  My husband thinks I’m just being moody.  But no, I’m actually living out a fake characters life.

Finally, I just love to write.  I can write about anything.  You give me a topic and I can make up and grandiose story about it.  It’s really fun and a way to escape my boring life.  And when my friends read my story and their faces light up telling me how much they loved a certain part, it makes it all worth while.

Book Release

Title: Alex’s Destiny (Racing to Love #4)
Author:  Amy Gregory
Expected Publish Date:  11-1-13
Genre:  Contemporary Romance

Book Synopsis:
Her destiny was written for her, long before she was ever born.  She embraced it, wanting nothing more than to give everything within her back to the sport in which she was considered royalty.  Her family’s legacy would live on, revered by all.  And she thrived on the long work days she spent teaching at the academy her blood was tied to.  Alexandra Sterling needed that dirt track as much as she needed her next breath.

That same track was the one that drew in a young student years before.  Alex had given her heart away the day they met, knowing that he belonged to only her.   For years she’d waited, knowing without a single doubt that he’d make her his when the time was right.
But…she’d never asked Dallas if he felt the same way.

Her hurt leaves her vulnerable, her days dark and her instincts dulled. After one night of hell, Alex is lost. Her world is crumbling around her, and without her lifeline and best friend beside her anymore, there’s nothing to keep her from sinking with it.

Dallas Hunter is a pro rider on the motocross circuit, following in the footsteps of his father Eli. For Dallas, it’s always been Alex, but he’s kept his feelings locked away out of fear, his love for their family, his biggest obstacle.

One short and chilling phone call to her puts him on high alert. Knowing something is terribly wrong sends him racing across the country, back home, back to her. But what he finds almost kills him.

Now he’s watching her slip away right before his very eyes. Figuring out how to help Alex before it’s too late, might turn out to be harder than any race he’s ever ridden. And he has to do it with his team and sponsors screaming at him from the other side, trying to pull him back to the world he’s dedicated his entire life to.
Dallas knows he has to help his best friend, the woman he loves…and do it without tearing his family apart.
